Ducati lockout in Sunday’s WorldSBK Warm-Up session to start the final day of Portimao’s race action.
Nicolo Bulega led a trio of Ducatis to top the session followed by Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) in P4
MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship action in Portimao enters its final day of the Pirelli Portuguese Round; and kicking off the day’s events was the WorldSBK Warm-Up session. Ducati riders impressed in the 10-minute warmup session, Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) topping the session, followed by Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team) and Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) third on the timesheet.
Nicolo Bulega finished P1 through his 1’39.968s lap, the only rider to break into 1’39s territory. Just under half of a second behind him, Petrucci was second fastest on the session via his 1’40.431s lap. After a tense day yesterday for Spanish two-time champion Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati), in which he and British rider Scott Redding (MGM BONOVO racing) collided and ended their Race 1 in just the first lap; Bautista returned to the battle at the top of the time sheet, finishing in third with a 1’40.471s lap.
Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) in P4 was half a second slower than P1 Bulega, setting the table for a very interesting confrontation later today in the Tissot Superpole Race after a clash for the ages in Race 1 between he and Bulega. Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) maintained his impressive pace on the weekend so far, finishing P5 ahead of the Lowes brothers, led by Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) in P6, 0.668s ahead of his brother Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) in P7.
