DEFINING STORIES, ROUND 6: Razgatlioglu repeats Misano heroics as Bulega gets taken out
In 2024, Razgatlioglu completed a stunning hat-trick at Misano and repeated that in 2025 while title rival Bulega lost valuable points in the Superpole Race
Fresh from the Autodrom Most’s incredible finale, the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship headed to Italy and the incredible Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli”. Both Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) and Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) knew this could be a crucial round, particularly after the Race 2 battle at Most, and both were determined to win.
RAZGATLIOGLU’S HAT-TRICK: unbeaten in two years at Misano
Misano 2024 was the moment where some in BMW felt they could win last season’s crown, and perhaps a bit of that was repeated this year. Misano was in a run of three circuits he went unbeaten at last year – but he’d already been beaten once at Most and that meant he trailed Bulega by 31 points heading into Italy. That gap came down massively at Misano thanks to ‘El Turco’ completed a second successive Misano treble, and with Bulega once again hitting trouble…
BULEGA WIPED OUT: Bassani takes out the Championship leader
In the Tissot Superpole Race, Axel Bassani (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) launched front the front row as he looked to give Bimota a potential home rostrum. However, ‘El Bocia’ clattered into Bulega at Turn 1, with both of them going into the gravel and out of the race. An apologetic Bassani explained what happened in the gravel but, with Razgatlioglu victorious, it meant Bulega lost a 12-point margin to his rival. In Race 2, Bulega was forced to start from tenth but quickly fought his way to second to limit the damage in the final race of the weekend, but the gap had closed by 22 points – it was just nine points between them…
