UNVEILED: homologated motorcycles for WorldSBK classes in 2023
As a new season starts, there’re three new homologations on the grid
The 2023 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship season is hours away from launching into life and bringing excitement and drama to millions of fans around the world, and the motorcycles on the grid have been officially homologated and announced. In WorldSBK, the major changes are the already-well reported Ducati Panigale V4 R update – model code being 3D. There’re also two new homologations for BMW’s M 1000 RR: the K66 MU Base and the K66 MU Competition, the latter of which is the model with wheel covers. For Kawasaki, there’s also a new homologation. As confirmed by Guim Roda earlier in February, there’s focuses on a new engine specification and thus the model code is ZXT02T – ZX1002T. There are no homologation updates for Yamaha or Honda.
Elsewhere in the paddock, although Honda returns to World Supersport, the CBR600RR, model code PC40, was already homologated in March 2022 but is pending Phase 2 completion, whilst a Street Triple 765 Moto2 edition has been homologated. There are no other changes in WorldSSP. In WorldSSP300, the KTM RC390R – a race winner in WorldSSP300 – awaits Phase 2 completion, as does the new Kove 321 RR-S. The Kawasaki Ninja 400 and Yamaha YZF-R3 are in their final season of homologation, with their end dates being January and February 2024 respectively.
