The FIM Supersport 300 World Championship kicked off the Pirelli Emilia-Romagna Round with Free Practice 1 at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” as Victor Steeman (MTM Kawasaki) topped the 30-minute by around two tenths ahead of his nearest rivals. Steeman struck first to top the times in the first session, held under grey skies in Italy.

The Dutch rider posted a best time of 1’50.044s to top the times ahead of his nearest rival as he topped the times, ahead of Alvaro Diaz (Arco Motor University Team) in second place; the Spanish rider set a 1’50.216s for second place ahead of Kevin Sabatucci (Kawasaki GP Project) with just three tenths separating the top three.

Matteo Vannucci (AG Motorsport Italia Yamaha) claimed fourth spot after a strong start to the weekend for the Italian, finish just over a tenth clear of Dirk Geiger (Fusport-RT Motorsports by SKM-Kawasaki) in fifth place. German rider Geiger had a two tenths margin over teammate Troy Alberto in sixth place with the Filipino rider enjoying a strong start to the weekend.

The gap between Alberto in sixth and Hugo De Cancellis (Prodina Racing WorldSSP300) in seventh was just 0.010s with the Frenchman finishing a tenth ahead of Championship leader Marc Garcia (Yamaha MS Racing) in eighth place. Samuel Di Sora (Leader Team Flembbo), fresh from making history at Estoril, was ninth with local hero Alessandro Zanca (Kawasaki GP Project) rounding out the top ten and was less than a second away from Steeman’s pace.
