It was an early start in WorldSBK, but that didn’t bother Razgatlioglu, with the reigning World Champion in sublime form

The Pirelli Indonesian Round at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit is well under way and a new lap record has been set for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship after an astonishing FP3. Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK) was more than a second quicker than anyone else as he bolted in a new lap record on Saturday morning. The session was red-flagged after a crash for Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) at Turn 16, with him stretchered off to the Medical Centre for a check-up but conscious.

Toprak Razgatlioglu was the first rider into the 1’32 bracket on Saturday morning with a 1’32.953 being clocked as he chased Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati). Before the end of the session, Toprak set a 1’32.294 and a new lap record, an extraordinary pace in FP3 and a second quicker than anyone else. Razgatlioglu’s teammate Andrea Locatelli also improved further and sprung up the order into second, making it a Yamaha 1-2. Fastest after Friday, Alvaro Bautista took third place in the session and put together a good race run as he gathered data ahead of his first title opportunity in Race 1. After a technical drama in the session, Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) got back out on track with four minutes to go to secure fourth, ahead of top Independent rider Axel Bassani (Motocorsa Racing).

He was ahead of two more Independent riders with Garrett Gerloff (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) taking sixth, whilst it was an impressive Saturday morning for Philipp Oettl (Team Goeleven) who took seventh overall. He was ahead of the factory Ducati of Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) who made it four Ducatis inside the top eight. Scott Redding (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) and teammate Michael van der Mark were ninth and tenth, ahead of Xavi Vierge (Team HRC) and Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK), with both factory riders aiming to break into the top ten. Right behind them in 13th, it was an impressive FP3 for Leandro Mercado (MIE Racing Honda Team).
