The 2017 WorldSSP Champion will miss the rest of the Pirelli Indonesian Round

The 2022 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Champion’s Pirelli Indonesian Round has come to an early end for Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) as the Frenchman has been declared unfit for Sunday action following an FP3 crash on Saturday. Mahias tumbled at Turn 16 in the opening session of the first race day and was initially ruled unfit for Saturday and under review for Sunday. However, following a review prior to Warm Up, Mahias remains unfit and for a second season, misses out on racing action at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit.

Mahias’ crash resulted in a right ankle sprain and is the latest injury for the 2017 World Supersport Champion in his two years of WorldSBK action. His second season in the class has seen three top ten finishes and a best of ninth, coming at Most in Race 2. One of Mahias’ highlights of 2022 has been a top ten in front of his home crowd at Magny-Cours with tenth in Race 1, and he currently sits in 14th place overall with 56 points. He’s 21 behind rookie Philipp Oettl (Team Goeleven) and 18 ahead of Michael van der Mark (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team).
