Two-thirds capacity crowd to welcome WorldSBK’s return to Assen
COVID-19 measures will be in force but the TT Circuit Assen will be open to thousands of spectators when WorldSBK visit at the end of the month
As the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship gears up to head back to another circuit that missed out on hosting a race in 2020 due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, fans are also returning to the circuits to watch the titanic battles unfold in person. The Prosecco DOC Dutch Round will be no exception to this with two-thirds of the capacity allowed at the Circuit TT Assen. With 55,000 permanent seats at the iconic venue, this means a crowd of around 35,000 visitors per day will be allowed with spectators now required to have a grandstand seat; the general admission areas will be closed to spectators.
There will be some COVID-19 measures in place including for entry into the circuit, while the paddock will not be accessible for spectators. Catering facilities and merchandising stands will be open throughout the weekend for fans to get the full experience being back at a racetrack. Spectators who bought tickets for last year’s cancelled event will be able to access the circuit for the 2021 round.
In the Netherlands, the Corona Check app can be downloaded. The Dutch government processes the vaccinations, a negative COVID-19 test certificate that is valid for 40 hours, or a Coronavirus recovery certificate. This can also be uploaded by spectators themselves. Similar apps from other countries are also accepted by the TT Circuit Assen. Only fans who can show one of these three documents (in the app) will get access to the TT Circuit Assen.
