Saturday, 24 July 2021 14:11 GMT

Having seen some majestic history signed sealed and delivered in the Netherlands, what lies ahead on the hallowed turf of Assen on the final day of action.

It was an electric Race 1 in the 2021 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship as Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) prevailed in a titanic fight with Scott Redding (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) and Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha with BRIXX WorldSBK). Taking back the lead in the Championship and becoming the first rider to win 13 races at one circuit in WorldSBK, there were plenty of records broken and history made at ‘The Cathedral’ on a magical Saturday.

  1. Jonathan Rea’s win at Assen is his 13th, meaning he is now the most successful rider at the track, becoming the first rider to achieve 13 wins at one circuit in WorldSBK history. It is also the 105th win in WorldSBK for Rea. This came from his fifth pole in five rounds, the first time he’s ever achieved five straight poles.

  2. Rea’s win is also the 13th consecutive podium at the track and his 19th in total.

  3. With Kawasaki taking victory, it is the 470th podium place they’ve had in their WorldSBK history.

  4. Scott Redding ended a seven-race podium drought with a second place, thus making it 780 podium places for Great Britain.

  5. It was also Redding’s 18th podium, putting him level with Loris Baz in the 37th position in the all-time rankings.

  6. Also with the podium places, Ducati are on 958 which means on Sunday, they could achieve a record 960. Thanks to Toprak Razgatlioglu, Yamaha are now on 329, meaning they could achieve a 330th tomorrow.

  7. Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha with BRIXX WorldSBK) took his second top five of the season and thus his joint-best result in fifth.

  8. There were impressive rides throughout the grid as many riders picked up multiple places. Michael van der Mark (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) came from 9th to 4th but teammate Tom Sykes came from 20th to 7th, and Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) from 21st to 6th.

  9. Isaac Viñales (ORELAC Racing VerdNatura) took his personal best result with 11th place.

  10. It was maiden points for Loris Cresson (OUTDO TPR Team Pedercini Racing) who finished 13th, the first Belgian points in WorldSBK since the late great Michael Paquay at Brands Hatch in Race 2 1996 in 12th. As well as this, Andrea Mantovani (Vince64) finished 14th, despite ignoring a double long lap penalty for a jump start, for which he received a ride through penalty.
