The Pirelli Made in Italy Emilia-Romagna Round got underway with thrilling action across Friday and Saturday at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli”. Plenty of milestones were met in racing for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, but what where they and what can we expect on Sunday?

1. Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) claimed his 30^th pole position of his WorldSBK career; leaving him 13 pole positions behind Troy Corser and 20 behind Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team)
2. Rea’s pole position meant Kawasaki equalled the run of consecutive pole positions at one circuit with nine; a record also held by Ducati at Brands Hatch between 1995 and 2002
3. Rea’s third place in Race 1 meant he claimed his 150^th podium with Kawasaki in WorldSBK, and it was also the 350^th race for Kawasaki standing on the podium
4. Michael Ruben Rinaldi’s (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) victory in Race 1 at Misano meant it was the 380^th podium for Italian riders in WorldSBK and their 104^th victory
5. Rinaldi’s victory at Misano meant he was the first Italian rider to win at Misano on an Italian bike for an Italian team for the first time since Marco Melandri in 2017. Before Melandri’s win in 2017, Max Biaggi won four times on an Aprilia, claiming the double in both 2010 and 2012
6. For the third time, a Yamaha rider started a season with five podium finishes in the first seven races. Ben Spies achieved this feat in 2009 on his way to winning the Championship, while Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha with BRIXX WorldSBK) has achieved this feat in 2020 and 2021
7. Axel Bassani (Motocorsa Racing) claimed his first ever WorldSBK top ten finish with seventh in Race 1
8. Rinaldi’s victory meant he stood on the WorldSBK podium for the fourth time in his career, tying him with Peter Goddard, Hitoyasu Izutsu, Marco Lucchinelli, Robert McLenea, Andreas Meklau, Baldassare Monti, John Reynolds, Akira Ryo, Makoto Tamada, Jordi Torres, Garrett Gerloff and the late Nicky Hayden
9. Tom Sykes’ fifth place in the Tissot Superpole meant he started outside of the front row at Misano for the first time since 2010, when he qualified in 18^th place, and only the third time in his career at Misano he’s been off the front row
10. Dominique Aegerter (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) claimed victory in Race 1 in the FIM Supersport World Championship, the second of his career. It was also a milestone for Yamaha as the win secured their 100^th victory in WorldSSP, although they are still four short of Honda’s all-time record of 104.
