The opening session on Sunday at the Circuito Estoril was topped by Jonathan Rea ahead of Toprak Razgatlioglu

The first and last session ahead of Sunday’s two MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship races at the Circuito Estoril was topped by Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) with a late lap to top the timesheets ahead of Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha with BRIXX WorldSBK) after the duo battled for second in Saturday’s Race 1 at the Gaerne Estoril Round.

Rea’s late lap in the 15-minute session meant he finished just over a tenth clear of Razgatlioglu at the top of the timesheets with the pair starting from the front row for the Tissot Superpole Race. American sensation Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) was third, two tenths away from fellow Yamaha rider Razgatlioglu.

Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) finished in fourth, half-a-second down on Rea, but as the lead Ducati rider while Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) secured a top five finish ahead of Alex Lowes who continues to show strong pace at the start of the 2021 season.

Team GoEleven’s Chaz Davies was seventh as he looks to battle through the field once again in the Tissot Superpole Race, with Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) once again inside the top ten at Estoril. Eugene Laverty (RC Squadra Corse) continued his impressive Estoril weekend with ninth in Warm Up, with Race 1 winner Scott Redding (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) completing the top ten.
