The British star missed the Spanish Round but emphatically returned to the Championship in Portimao with the fastest time in FP1

The start of the final round of the triple-header for the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship got underway at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve for the Motul Portuguese Round with Tom Booth-Amos (Fusport – RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki) topping the 30-minute session by just 0.009s.

Booth-Amos was forced to miss the Spanish Round at Jerez last week after undergoing surgery but returned in sensational fashion to top the timesheets after posting a 1’56.273s to head the field, just 0.009s clear of Championship leader Adrian Huertas (MTM Kawasaki) with the Spanish rider topping the early running. Iñigo Iglesias (SMW Racing) claimed third place, just 0.010s behind Booth-Amos with almost nothing separating the top three.

Uruguayan rider Facundo Llambias (Machado CAME SBK) was fourth as his strong form continued, ahead of MTM Kawasaki duo Koen Meuffels and Jeffrey Buis with the reigning Champion running close to Huertas in the first half of the session before other riders were able to leapfrog him.

Bruno Ieraci (Prodina Team WorldSSP300) claimed seventh place as he continues to impress on his return to WorldSSP300, just three tenths away from Booth-Amos, while Kevin Sabatucci (Kawasaki GP Project) was in eighth, with just 0.008s separating Ieraci and Sabatucci. Bahattin Sofuoglu (Biblion Yamaha Motoxracing) was ninth with Jose Luis Perez Gonzalez rounding out the top ten.

Gabriele Mastroluca (ProGP Racing) missed out on a spot in the top ten by just 0.001s and had a gap to Samuel Di Sora (Leader Team Flembbo) in 12th. Di Sora just claimed 12th place ahead of Yuta Okaya (MTM Kawasaki) by only 0.002s. Two Dutch riders were 14th and 15th with Ruben Bijman (Machado CAME SBK) and Victor Steeman (KTM Freudenberg KTM WorldSSP Team), ahead of Meikon Kawakami (AD78 Team Brasil by MS Racing), Oliver König (Movisio by MIE), Dirk Geiger (Fusport – RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki) and Alfonso Coppola (Team Trasimeno) completing the top 19, all within one second of Booth-Amos.
