Rookie Scott Redding praises his ARUBA.IT Racing – Ducati team following his sensational weekend at Jerez where he claimed the Championship lead

The Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto was a happy hunting ground for Scott Redding (ARUBA.IT Racing – Ducati) as he claimed a pole position, a second place and two wins throughout the Pirelli Spanish Round as MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship action resumed, Redding and Ducati proving to be the competition to beat throughout the weekend in Andalusia.

Redding powered his way to pole position in Tissot Superpole with a lap that pipped Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) and Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) as they claimed the front row of the grid. Despite losing out at the start, Redding was able to battle his way back from third to take victory; the race winning move coming on Lap 14 of 20.

The Tissot Superpole Race had a familiar start to it with Rea getting the jump on Redding, with the WorldSBK rookie moving down to third. Like in Race 1, he was able to bounce back but came home in second, before taking a dominant win in Race 2 where he led all but a handful of the 20 laps to complete a sensational weekend.

Reflecting on the Spanish Round, Redding said: “To have two victories here, a pole position and a second position, very happy for me and the ARUBA Ducati team. They put a great bike under me for these conditions and for me to ride it well. We did a good job. I could’ve won the Superpole Race. I had the pace to win but I was stuck with Toprak for too long.  I had to make sure I had the pace to win in Race 2, and I felt good with the bike and managed to get away and feel comfortable to just tick the lap times off. Really happy to bring back two victories for Ducati.”
