British rider Leon Haslam secured his best result of the season with fourth place in Race 2

Hopes were high for Team HRC after last week’s podium and Leon Haslam (Team HRC) secured his best result of the 2020 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship with fourth place in Race 2 at the Pirelli Teruel Round as he continued Honda’s recent form continued. Haslam’s previous best in 2020 was fifth as Honda continued to make forward progress.

After Alvaro Bautista secured Team HRC’s first podium since returning to WorldSBK at the Prosecco DOC Aragon Round, Bautista was able to fight in the lead group but it was Haslam who secured the team’s best result of the weekend with fourth place in Race 2; beating his best result of the season from the season-opening round.

Reacting to his strong result, Haslam said: “It’s been a tough first four rounds but finally we’ve seen some big improvements. We lose the first three or four laps, we lose three or four seconds to the leaders, but at the end of the race we manage to keep a similar gap. Much happier with the pace. We will take fourth place and hopefully we can improve for the next race.”

After two strong results and being able to fight at the front across two consecutive race weekends, Team HRC and Honda will be hoping to keep this run of form going as WorldSBK heads to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for the first time. The team has tested at the circuit before and go into the round with some data and will be hopeful of more strong results to come.
