Spanish rider Alvaro Bautista discusses Team HRC, the potential of the team and the 2020 season in a video interview

In a video interview with WorldSBK.com, Alvaro Bautista (Team HRC) talks about Team HRC following his switch from Ducati, the potential of Team HRC and how he believes they will win the Championship plus the implications of the season following the extended break due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Having tested the Honda CBR1000RR-R in winter testing before racing at Phillip Island, Bautista now has a feel for where the bike is in terms of performance. He said: “Our bike has really good potential, but we have to work to put everything in the right place. I don’t think we are far away from the front riders but maybe we need to fix many things. I have a lot of confidence for the rest of the season because we showed we weren’t too far away and could fight for good positions in the races.”

Bautista believes Team HRC is the place for him to become World Champion, as he said: “I think I have a really strong factory behind me to be World Champion. It’s just a question of time. I don’t know if it’ll be this season or next season but for sure we are pushing for that. It is my target and also it is Honda’s target.”

The enforced break means a different season than the one originally planned. Discussing this, Bautista said: “For sure it will be a shorter season than normal. For us, it is worse because we need more time on track. In the winter tests we didn’t really have a good time so we cannot work as we wanted. For sure, it will be a disadvantage for us.”
