Keep up with the second day of testing at the Andalusian circuit

Sun continues to shine down for the second day of testing around Circuito de Jerez Ángel Nieto.

With the temperature warmer than yesterday the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship riders took to the track earlier this morning. The two Ducati Panigale 4V R of Michael Rinaldi (BARNI Racing Team) and Eugene Laverty (Team Goeleven) were the ones to open track activity, followed soon by the Kawasaki machine of Leon Haslam (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK).

Reigning world champion Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) didn’t waste any time and came out of his garage around 11 am, setting the fastest lap time of the morning in 1’40.032 just a few tenths of a second ahead of Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team), who sits in second position.

Working on improving his race performance Toprak Razgatlioglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) set the third fastest time followed by the Yamaha of Michael van der Mark and the Kawasaki ZX-10RR of Haslam.

GRT Yamaha WorldSBK riders Marco Melandri and Sandro Cortese sit respectively in fifth and sixth positions. The German suffered a small crash this morning, but he was able to walk away from it on his feet. Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK) had a small crash too but fortunately with no consequences for the rider.

Working on finding out the base set up for their all-new Ducati Panigale V4 R, Chaz Davies and Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) had a lot to work on yesterday and they plan to continue with the same program today. Bautista put in 12 laps this morning and currently sits in ninth position, while Davies sat out on the opening hours of the day.

Among the WorldSSP riders out testing too at Jerez, Italian rider Federico Caricasulo (BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team) set the first fastest lap time in 1’43.343 followed by Hikari Okubo (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) in second position and the MV Agusta of Raffaele De Rosa (MV AGUSTA Reparto Corse).
