Honda team take on ESS and WorldSSP300 classes

Ahead of the opening European Round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship at MotorLand Aragon, WIL Sport Racedays have announced the team who will help them take on their championship charge for 2017; tackling the ever-competitive European Supersport Class and the inaugural Word Supersport 300 class.

Taking on the European Supersport championship will be Hannes Soomer, the 18 year old Estonian racer who has spent his previous seasons battling in the European Junior Cup. Making two appearances in the World Supersport championship last season, Soomer will race with the Ten Kate Honda CBR 600 RR machine over the nine European races.

Soomer expresses his feelings ahead of the season:"For sure I am very excited about the partnership with Ten Kate. They know the bike I will be racing better than anyone else, so the technical assistance will be really good. Together with support of WIL Sport Racedays, I know it will be a really strong package. It is a really big opportunity for me but it is also a big responsibility. I know the bike will be really fast, so when we get it to work with me we should get some good results. I can’t wait to start working with the team in the tests and now I am even more excited about the 2017 season."

WIL Sport Racedays will also have Spaniard Mika Perez at the helm of their World Supersport 300 machine, as the 17 year old heads into the unknown of the new class. With 35 riders set to line up on the grid in Alcaniz for the opening race of the season, fans are bound to be treated to some intense racing action.

Riding the TKRP Honda CBR 500 R, Perez was crowned European Junior Cup Champion in 2016, and the experience will be vital heading into 2017: "I am very happy to be part of the WIL Sport Racedays team,” Perez explains, “And to receive the support of Ten Kate Racing Products. I want to thank WIL Sport, all of my sponsors and Racedays for all of their efforts and for helping me on my way to hopefully becoming a World Champion someday."
