Krummenacher leads Sofuoglu for the first time as rain hits second session

The Puccetti pair of Randy Krummenacher and Kenan Sofuoglu once again recorded a 1-2 finish in the second session of testing at Phillip Island, with WorldSSP FP2 interrupted by spots of rain as had previously halted progress for the WorldSBK bikes earlier in the day. After comfortably leading the morning test session, Kenan Sofuoglu has seen his WorldSSP rookie teammate Randy Krummenacher register a faster time this afternoon, with the ex-Moto2 rider leaving it until late in the rain interrupted session to grab the fastest lap on a drying track. Hoping to start working on race simulations tomorrow, the Swiss rider’s best lap of 1’33.678 saw him less than a tenth clear of his teammate in P2.

Frenchman Jules Cluzel, after having struggled throughout the morning session to stay with rival Sofuoglu, was the Turkish rider’s closest challenger for most of the afternoon session until improved track conditions saw Krummenacher able to take the number one spot. American PJ Jacobsen and Italian Lorenzo Zanetti completed the top 5.

The WorldSSP grid will be back in action tomorrow hoping for a full day of clear skies; final preparations underway for the lights going out for Round 1 on Sunday.
