Hollywood star drops into the paddock at Round 9 at Laguna Seca

Actor Keanu Reeves is well-known as a fan of both motorcycles and racing, and has been known to turn up in the MotoGP paddock. As World Superbike graces American shores for Round 9 of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship at Laguna Seca, Reeves paid a visit to the paddock in the world’s fastest production based motorcycling World Championship to get his first taste of WorldSBK.

The actor rides and even has his own motorcycle company, and has a passion for all things two-wheeled – and speed. After MotoAmerica Race 1 had concluded on track, Reeves also got a lap in the Alfa Romeo 4C Safety Car around the legendary Laguna Seca racetrack.

“It’s amazing,” said Reeves. “It’s the first time I’ve been to World Superbike and MotoAmerica, although I’ve been to Laguna Seca. It’s a great day. I ride very different bikes to these! I’ve also founded a motorcycle company called ARCH although we make more kind of performance cruisers…they’re like two different worlds.”

When asked who he was rooting for, the all-encompassing passion came to the fore, with the actor unable to choose.

“There’s an emotion in Ducati. And Suzuki, it’s great to see them on the scene (in MotoAmerica). But then Kawasakis I kind of grew up on, riding personally. In MotoAmerica I’ve met Danny Eslick a few times, now going into WorldSBK? We’re about to find out!”

The lights go out for WorldSBK Race 2 at 14:30 local time (GMT -7) as the Californian sun heats up Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
