Tough ending for BMW Racing Team Toth's first season in WSBK

After a promising start on Friday, constant technical problems ruined the team's racing weekend.

Team Toth BMW came home from the last round of the 2014 eni FIM Superbike World Championship empty handed as the Hungarian squad’s performance was hampered once again by technical problems. Imre Toth Jr had his tough time dealing with his BMW S 1000 RR ECU cutting power in both races and could not finish within the top-15 in any of the two encounters.

Other Team Toth rider Gabor Rizmayer had a good start in the first encounter but on lap 7 he crashed out at turn 15. Because of the heavy damage on his EVO-spec BMW machine, Rizmayer was forced to sit out the race of the year.

Imre Toth Jr: “Racing with a broken ECU will lead to a result like this. Another unexpected issue made race one even harder. During the final laps, some kind of a noise started to came out from the engine. I did my best and all I could do was to make it to the finish line in race two. ”

Gabor Rizmayer: “The bike worked surprisingly good, my laptimes were much faster than all weekend. I pushed myself to the limit, chasing the two EBR bikes and that cost me not only this, but the second race too. I made a mistake and the bike suffered too much damage. Not the way we wanted to end the season.”
