Lewis and Smith with Racedays Honda

Thursday, 19 December 2013 08:58 GMT

New Zealand’s Jake Lewis, 2013 PATA European Junior Cup Champion, will join Englishman Kyle Smith in the Racedays Honda squad for next season. Lewis has won a fully supported ride after claiming the EJC Championship  in a dramatic season showdown in Jerez. He will compete in the Superstock 600 European Championship riding the same specification Honda CBR600RR that Kyle Smith piloted to victory for the Racedays team in the season finale at Jerez.

Smith will race the brand new Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade ‘SP’ in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup and is no stranger to success on larger machinery, having finished runner-up in the CEV Stock Extreme championship in 2012. The team is supported by WIL Sport Management and Agro-On mini snacks and the motorcycles will be prepared by Dutch tuning wizards Benjan Motoren.

Gerry Bryce, Team Owner: "We’re very pleased to announce such a strong line-up for 2014. Kyle has a great natural talent and I'm sure he will be able to get the very best from the new Honda Fireblade SP. Jake showed amazing spirit and race-craft to take the EJC championship and we are confident he will adapt quickly to our race winning CBR600RR. I would like to thank Honda, WIL Sport and Agro-On for helping us to put such a strong team together."

Jake Lewis: "I can't wait for the 2014 season to get underway on the Racedays Honda CBR600. I am really looking forward to this exciting new challenge in the Superstock 600 class with the RaceDays team. The CBR600RR is very competitive so this gives me great confidence for my opening season. I would like to say a big thankyou to Gerry and RaceDays Honda for this fantastic opportunity and I look forward to some great results this coming season."

Kyle Smith: "I'm looking forward to next season and a new challenge. I most enjoy riding the bigger bikes and the feel from the Pirelli tyres really suits my style. The Honda's probably still the best handling 1000cc bike so next year's SP should be even better. Let's see what next season brings, but my goal is to race WSBK in 2015 and I'll be giving it my all to get there."
