QBE joins the WSBK grid at Phillip Island
Leading Australian insurer, QBE, has taken pole position on the World Superbike starting grid becoming Event Main Sponsor for the opening round of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship, to be held at Australia's Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit next February 21-23, 2014*.

The QBE round will kick off the 2014 season for the world's leading production bike riders with new teams, new riders, new regulations and new liveries to debut.
The sponsorship was announced this week at the thrilling Victorian circuit with QBE's main man of motorcycling, Michael Gallagher, being welcomed to the starting grid on Gardner Straight by track owner, Andrew Fox.

QBE has specialised in motorcycle insurance for more than 40 years and since 2008 has taken a sponsorship platform at Phillip Island's world superbike round. They offer Australian riders a variety of specialised motorcycle insurance products developed by riders for riders.

"The motorcycle team at QBE is very excited to be the Event Main Sponsor for the 2014 world superbikes. It is a great opportunity to keep QBE top of mind for motorcyclists throughout Australia", said Michael Gallagher, QBE's National Manager - Motorcycle.

Event organisers are expecting World Superbike's new cost cutting regulations and the introduction of the EVO class to the WSBK grid will buoy competitor numbers.

"We are thrilled to have QBE join World Superbike Championship, at an event we believe will signal the start of a new era for the category", said Andrew Fox, Circuit Owner. " WSBK is all about real bikes, the bikes we see on the road, being pushed to maximum performance. We look forward to welcoming our fans and the world teams to the QBE Round and promise to once again launch the WSBK season in super style at Phillip Island."

Marc Saurina, WSBK Commercial and Marketing Director: "We wish to welcome QBE as a traditional well known partner of the Circuit, and now also of Dorna. This clearly shows the strength of WSBK and its typical proximity to the fans, when an important national Brand wants to appear globally visible in this Championship so close to the end-user."
