Home rider Salvadori steps up and gets pole

There's nothing better than his home track for Milan-born Luca Salvadori, pole-sitter for today's 6pm 10-lap race. The PATA by Martini Yamaha rider, at his 2nd full season in STK600, raised the competition to a new level with few minutes to go by lapping in the low 1'51s and finally setting a new Lap Record for the class in 1'51.271.

Following riders Adrian Nestorovic (MTM-MVR Team Yamaha) Franco Morbidelli (San Carlo Team Italia) had to play the catch-up game but eventually closed the gap to secure a first row start. Little disappointment for Championship leader Gauthier Duwelz (MTM-MVR Yamaha): for the young Belgian, 4th at the flag - it's the first non-pole position of the season.

Italian riders on good form, as 5th and 6th place Christian Gamarino (Team Goeleven Kawasaki) and Stefano Casalotti (VFT Racing) will share the 2nd row ahead of Swiss Robin Mulhauser (MTM-MVR Racing Yamaha) and Nicolas Stizza (Team Trasimeno Yamaha).
