A lucky escape for Christoffer Bergman

Christoffer Bergman (BWG Racing Kawasaki) will be back to full fitness soon. The 23 year old from Karlstad, Sweden, suffered a heavy crash during the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup at Magny-Cours, from which he escaped with "just" a broken arm and a mild concussion - a relieving outcome considering the nasty impact on the French tarmac.

"Well after trying to remember what happened" said Christoffer Bergman "and watching the video of the crash, I have to say I am very glad to have walked away with only a broken arm and a minor concussion! No internal head injuries, no neck or back injuries. I believe I was very lucky."

Bergman will now concentrate on his recovery in order to be back for testing: "Yesterday I got a new x-ray on the arm to see the progress" he continues "and everything looks OK, but doctors discovered another fracture in the wrist, nothing major really. They also removed my cast and changed it into a protection. I will do some physiotherapy twice a week and by early November I'll be back to 100%. At this point of the year there is no rush, it's better to wait and then be ready for winter and pre-season testing."

Despite being unfit to ride, Bergman will be at Jerez with the team, while his place will be taken by South African David McFadden.
