Checa gets down to business at ‘home' circuit
Carlos Checa (Ducati Althea Racing) immediately got into the groove at his ‘home' circuit of Motorland Aragon on the first morning of three days of testing, the Spanish rider lapping consistently under the two-minute mark and ending up with a blistering time of 1 minute 58.7 seconds. More than a second behind Checa was 2010 champion Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia), with a time of 2'00.1", while third was the rapidly-improving Kawasaki ZX-10R machine of Tom Sykes who stopped the clocks with a time of 2'00.4".

The next three on the timesheets were Troy Corser (BMW), Leon Haslam (BMW) and Michel Fabrizio (Suzuki). Lorenzo Baroni, who will race in next year's Superstock 1000 FIM Cup, also lapped well on the second Ducati Althea Superbike machine on his debut, while the other Superbike riders present at the test are Leon Camier (Aprilia Alitalia), Katsuaki Fuijwara (Kawasaki) and Noriyuki Haga (Aprilia Pata Racing).

Fabien Foret (Lorenzini Kawasaki), Broc Parkes (Kawasaki Motocard.com), Luca Scassa and Chaz Davies (Triumph ParkinGO) are present with their Supersport machines, with Sheridan Morais is the only Superstock rider on track for Lorenzini Kawasaki.

The three-day test is being held on a slightly longer track (5.345 kms) than the one used in MotoGP, with the final curve incorporating a hairpin and an ‘esse' bend instead of a long left-hand curve.
