MILLER RACE NOTES

Carlos Checa was back on the front row after the 2008 Magny-Cours races and he scored a podium for the first time since Portimao last year;

Seventh grid spot for Kawasaki (Broc Parkes), the best result for the Japanese manufacturer since last year, when Regis Laconi was seventh on the same track. To find a better result for Kawasaki, we have to go back to Lausitzring 2007, when Nieto and Laconi were first and second on the grid;

With the Miller races, Fonsi Nieto became the 38th rider to boast at least 100 superbike race starts;

In Supersport Kenan Sofuoglu tied the all-time record for wins held by Sébastien Charpentier, at thirteen;

Maiden pole for Joan Lascorz in Supersport. Kawasaki hadn't scored a pole since Donington, 2007.

MISANO PERSONAL SCORECARD

Max Biaggi in his four races run in Misano has alternated an accident with a podium finish: he crashed out with Haga in race 1, 2007, then he was second in race 2; he was put out of the race by Fabrizio in race 1 last year and finished second behind team-mate Xaus in the second race;

Fifteen podium finishes, five poles and 356 points scored. These are the amazing numbers of Troy Corser in Misano. The podium and pole values are an all-time record for a single track;

Four retirements out of six starts for Michel Fabrizio. The Italian rider posted his best result in race 2 in his debut season, 2006, with a sixth. He was particularly unlucky in both 2007 races, when he ran a total of only six laps. He had better luck in Superstock 1000, where he won the 2003 race;

Noriyuki Haga has never won at Misano and has only scored three podium finishes out of eighteen races run. His last podium was back in 2007, race 2 (second). His best grid spot was a second behind Corser in 2000;

Yukio Kagayama climbed twice on the podium in Misano out of eight races run, the last one was in 2007, race 1. The Japanese is on a streak of seven straight points finishes, here, starting from 2005 race two;

In their maiden Superbike season, Carlos Checa and Ryuichi Kiyonari had difficult times in setting up their Honda CBR and they finished respectively fifteenth and sixteenth and fourteenth and thirteenth;

Lorenzo Lanzi has always finished inside the top-10 in Misano and has never retired. His best result is a fifth place in his debut year, 2005, race 1;

A problematic track for Fonsi Nieto, who has recorded top-10 finishes only three times out of eight starts. His best result here is an eighth place in 2006, race 1;

Jakub Smrz has always scored points in the four races he has run, and last year he posted his best result, seventh in race 1, recording also his maiden fastest lap;

Ruben Xaus scored a double in Misano in 2003 and won race 2 last year. These are the only podium finishes of the Spaniard in Superbike out of twelve races run. Xaus won the Supersport race in 1999.

OTHER NOTES ON THE MISANO RACES

Ducati has won 26 times out of 34 races run, scoring ten poles (the last one in 2004), 21 fastest laps and a total of 63 podium placements. Ducati can score in Misano an important milestone: with two bikes on the podium they will count 700 podium placements;

Honda hasn't won at Misano since 1998 (a double by Aaron Slight), Kawasaki since race 1, 1994 (Scott Russell) and Yamaha since 2006 (Andrew Pitt's only win in Superbike). Aprilia scored the double here in 2000 with Troy Corser.
