Michele Pirro crowned Italian Supersport Champion
The race was run over two halves, with but Pirro was a clear victor by eight seconds and now has 100 points to show for his 2009 CIV efforts. Pirro has strong previous form at Misano, as he scored pole in the World Supersport race there in June this year.
Michele's confidence is now at a high level as he attempts to get back into the top ten in the World Rankings at the next round in Germany, on September 6, following a disappointing DNF at the previous round in the Czech Republic.
The 23-year-old is currently 12th overall in WSS, locked in a fierce battle in the midfield, with only seven points separating the tenth place rider from 13th place.
Said Pirro, who has been in dominant CIV form in recent times, "It is difficult to describe how I feel about taking my third Italian Championship in two classes. With 18 consecutive pole position is a goal that goes beyond my hopes. It has been a splendid job from the team and I have had great support from them at all times. For the rest of the season I will continue to run with the same concentration and the same determination that we have shown in winning this title."
