Aitchison takes maiden Supersport podium for Althea Honda at Kyalami
Aussie Mark ‘Atcho' Aitchison scored an excellent third place finish in the sixth round of the World Supersport championship at Kyalami in South Africa. Mark got a good start and was battling in the leading group throughout the race and then on the last lap he was able to pass the battling Sofuoglu and Lascorz to reach his first podium of the season.

"It was my luck that I was able to pass Sofuoglu and Lascorz in the last lap but we actually put a couple of good laps down in the last few laps, and I was already hoping that I could bridge the gap to them" declared Aitchison. "I hoped they might get in the way of each other and it worked out that way. Obviously you don't want to get on the podium like that, but at the moment - I'll take it. We are going to work hard to achieve the goals we want to do with our team. We have our own bit of work to do, but so does everyone. We have more points, and it's good to recover from scoring no points in Monza with this podium. Big thanks to my team and I hope we can keep this going."

This is the best result ever for the 25-year-old from Gosford (Australia), who is currently in his second season in Supersport. He rose through the ranks of Australian Supersport, finishing runner-up in 2006, and then scored a win with the Celani Suzuki Superstock 1000 FIM Cup team in 2007 before moving to Triumph Be1 Racing in 2008.
