2017 Champion Lucas Mahias returns to WorldSSP for what will be his tenth season competing in WorldSSP. The 36-year-old veteran has a wealth of experience including several seasons competing in WorldSBK or as a replacement rider for the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing team. In 2025, he competed with GMT94-YAMAHA, and by the end of last season, he had started in 119 races going back to 2014, stacking up nine wins and 34 podiums to his name, with WorldSBK experience from two full seasons in the Championship in 2021 and 2022. 2024 may have been a turning point for the at that point 8-year veteran of WorldSSP, he improved to a 9th place finish after earning 19th place in 2023, which he subsequently built upon again in 2025, finishing seventh. He will continue to race with GMT94 Yamaha in 2026, this season alongside Spaniard Roberto Garcia.
