Can Oncu heads into his seventh year on the WorldSSP grid and for the second time in two seasons, changes teams. This time, he is moving to compete with defending Champions, Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing, but remains on the R9. Oncu is already a motorcycle history maker, becoming the youngest ever winner of a Grand Prix when he won in Moto3 at Valencia at just 15 years old. 2024 brought with it a move to Yamaha, a departure from the Kawasaki machinery he had raced with his past five seasons in WorldSSP. 2025 was by far his most successful season in the category so far, race in and race out going bar to bar with eventual Champion Stefano Manzi. While Oncu had to settle for runner up in 2025, he improved his consistency heavily, and now joining forces with the very successful Ten Kate squad, Oncu is seen by many as a heavyweight contender to win the title.
