Pirelli introduces new multi-lap Superpole tyre
After gathering feedback from the various teams in the Superbike paddock, Pirelli Moto decided to introduce a new Superpole tyre to replace the previous version starting from the Misano race.

The tyre's ‘high-definition' nature comes from a level of grip higher than that found in Sunday's race tyres while pushing wider the definition of a qualifier to 5+ laps, depending upon the circuit distance, asphalt and weather conditions. In addition, teams will now benefit from a more realistic race setup as the Superpole tyre is equal in measurement (190/65-16.5), profile and structure to Pirelli's race tyre solutions.

For the spectators and TV presenters, adding curved PIRELLI logos to the tyres' sidewalls makes them discernable from the standard race tyre allotment. The imprinted non-permanent white "long P" markings and yellow lines which were present on the tyres during Monza's Superpole will be available again starting from the Germany round at Nurburgring.

Pirelli's Moto Racing Director, Giorgio Barbier (photo left, with Guglielmo Fiocchi) commented, "This development is the result of the many requests by teams and riders to have a Superpole tyre best suited for the new three-session format. Infront and the entire Superbike paddock have worked very hard to make this Superpole special for the fans and fair for the riders. With these new tyres, Pirelli confirms again the continuous effort to deliver the right package for the promoter, the riders and the spectators."

The team of Pirelli technicians will gather the results and feedback from Misano and the final six races of the season to clarify the definitive characteristics for the final Superpole tyres to be used during the 2010 season.
