Laconi's condition slowly improves

Monday, 25 May 2009 13:45 GMT

Regis Laconi's condition is slowly but surely showing signs of improvement. The French riders, victim of a nasty crash at Kyalami, has been gradually brought out of his pharmacological coma at Sunninghill Hospital in Johannesburg and is breathing normally.

He exchanged a few words with the hospital medical staff and is moving his upper and lower limbs without any assistance. The positive clinical status, if confirmed in the next few days, should enable the rider from Saint-Dizier to return to France at the end of next week.

Regis will be transferred to a specialized centre in Paris for full recovery.
