Scassa making moves at Kyalami
Privateer Luca Scassa (Supersonic Ducati) continues to make waves in this year's Superbike World Championship, the Italian picking up more points in the weekend's two races. Scassa did not get the best of starts in race 1 but recovered well to hold off riders of the calibre of Sykes, Xaus and Haga to finish eleventh. His race 2 start was much better and once he had got past Byrne, Guintoli and Sykes, Scassa remained at an excellent race pace throughout, but unusual tyre wear dropped him down to twelfth at the flag. The nine points scored at Kyalami move him into 17th place in the overall standings.

"It was a good weekend that began well in first qualifying," declared the Italian youngster. "In both races my starts weren't the best, but I'm happy about making up places in both races and I could have finished in the top 10. I was lapping at less than a second from the circuit record, that proves we all did a good job in the team. In a couple of weeks we're off to the USA and I have high hopes there because I have already raced at Miller in 2007, when I took part in the AMA Superbike championship. It'll be useful to become more competitive."
