The ever-improving Ruben Xaus approaches one of his favourite circuits in good spirits, with memories of two good race finishes in 2009 easily brought to mind.

Speed, and just as importantly how fast you can reach high speed, is the key at Monza - that and getting stopped for the frequent chicanes along the entire lap. Corser worked on these aspects of machine performance - brakes and engine characteristics - at a recent test at Misano. Troy already has a Monza race win to his credit, in 2005.

Said Corser of the old Monza track, with a changed first chicane for 2010, "At Monza two things are key: good acceleration and good brakes. The circuit is, in effect, a succession of long straights and tight corners. At Assen we were really quick on the straights. If we can build speed quickly out of the corners and look after our tyres over the full race distance, I'm very confident we can have a good race weekend."

Xaus, who has a keen sense of history in regards to the Monza circuit, stated, "I have good memories of Monza last year, as I finished in the top ten twice. I like the atmosphere in the Royal Park. You can feel the long tradition of motor sport wherever you go around the circuit."

Immediately after Monza the entire WSBK paddock will make preparations to head to South Africa and the Kyalami circuit for round six of the season, on May 16.
