Yamaha pairing well placed after official tests
For Cal Crutchlow and James Toseland, the latest test against their peer group of 2010 competitors was another opportunity to shine, despite some dramatic moments for Crutchlow in particular. The reigning Supersport World Champion fell at very high speed on the final afternoon, but got back on to complete the session. He slid so fast - just under 200kmph he believes - that the asphalt burned off all the logos from the front of his leathers, before he slid to a halt in the trackside gravel. Cal, approaching his first full season in WSB, ended up fourth overall on the time sheets, from the 20 riders who rode in the Superbike sessions.

Speaking after his crash, Crutchlow said, "It was frustrating to fall today, the track so was so slippery it was unavoidable, but it cost me some time on the track. Having said that we've had a really good test, we've worked through a lot of things and I think we've got closer to a good set-up for the first race. I'm really keen to get to Australia and start the next test before we kick-off racing."

Double champion Toseland concentrated most of his available time on setting up his new machine and only really used the last hour to measure his outright pace. He finally went sixth fastest. On regular race pace Toseland was in an even better condition than he was over a single lap, and left the test feeling settled and confident.

Toseland stated, "I'm really pleased overall. We've worked through a lot of stuff over the last three days and I feel I've got a lot more understanding of the bike. The team has worked really well and I'm pleased we've managed to keep consistent fast pace. I think there's more to come so I'm looking forward to getting started again!"
