Davide Giugliano looking good in Q2

On the track where he scored his maiden WSBK podium finish last year, Davide Giugliano led the timesheets at the end of Qualifying 2. The Althea Racing Aprilia rider put in a strong 1'36.814 in the closing stages to precede long-time leader Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team), who showed an impressive pace on the TT Circuit of Assen on dry conditions, too.

Sykes' team mate Loris Baz finished with a competitive 3rd - despite the 0.656 seconds gap - that further shows the competiveness of the ZX-10R on the Dutch track and the eager of the works Kawasaki team to bounce back after a poor start of the season in terms of results. A clear step forward for Jonathan Rea, who brought his CBR1000RR Pata Honda World Superbike up to 4th position, to put a smile on the team's faces after the unfortunate leg injury sustained by Leon Haslam yesterday.

Championship leader Sylvain Guintoli (Aprilia Racing Team) was 5th ahead of 2011 World Superbike Champion Carlos Checa (Team Ducati Alstare) and BMW Motorrad GoldBet duo of Marco Melandri and Chaz Davies, who are both finding some difficulties to keep the front runners' pace. Eugene Laverty (Aprilia Racing Team) ended up 9th, far behind compared to the pace showed yesterday under wet conditions.

Sweden's Alexander Lundh (Team Pedercini Kawasaki) crashed early in the session at Turn 7 and was transferred to Medical Centre. Leon Camier (FIXI Crescent Suzuki) didn't get on track this morning, not because of his fitness condition but due to a technical problem occurred on his GSX-R 1000.
