Fabrizio star of the show as WSBK goes karting
It's been a Thursday of fun and entertainment on four wheels for a selection of WSBK riders. Eugene Laverty (Aprilia Racing Team), Michel Fabrizio (Red Devils Roma Aprilia), Leon Haslam (Pata Honda World Superbike Team), Chaz Davies (BMW Motorrad GoldBet SBK Team), Loris Baz (Kawasaki Racing Team) and Carlos Checa (Team Ducati Alstare) for World Superbike, Kenan Sofuoglu (Mahi Racing Team India Kawasaki) and Nacho Calero Perez (Honda PTR) for the Supersport class starred today's Media Event that took place at MotorLand's Aragon kart track.
The eight riders were divided into 2 groups of 4 each and took on a full schedule consisting of Free Practice, Qualifying and a 5-lap race. The combined classification - that was made considering the total race time of each participant - proclaimed Michel Fabrizio as the overall winner. The event didn't lack some drama, too, as Carlos Checa had a spectacular crash at the last turn on lap 4 of his race, but luckily the 2011 Superbike World Champion escaped uninjured.
After the race the riders got on the SBK Paddock Show stage for a press conference and were joined a bit later by the returning Checa, who showed to be in perfect shape following the incident.
