Talk and pedalling for SBK riders at Phillip Island

Thursday is well-known to be the day of welcome to the World Superbike racing weekend. The SBK paddock reunited under the tent of the Phillip Island Paddock Show for the first Media Event of 2013 eni FIM Superbike Championship. The press conference started with the speech of new World SBK Executive Director Javier Alonso:

"It's a great experience for me to be here in World Superbike. I would have never dreamed to have this opportunity in Dorna to have both MotoGP and World Superbike together. I'm sure there is a lot of work to do, there are excellent riders - we know some of them, we'll get to know the others very soon - good teams and good racing, we just need to work out this championship to bring it to the level it deserves."

The conference went on with a quick on stage interview with the top riders of the series: Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team), Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad GoldBet SBK Team), Carlos Checa (Team Ducati Alstare), Jonathan Rea (Pata Honda World Superbike Team), Eugene Laverty (Aprilia Racing Team), Leon Camier (FIXI Crescent Suzuki Team) and reigning World Supersport Champion Kenan Sofuoglu (Mahi Racing Team India Kawasaki), with the participation of Australian wildcards Glenn Allerton (Next Gen Motorsports BMW) and Josh Hook (Team Honda Racing).

Right after the conference, the SBK riders - together with all Australian entries - went out for a lap of the stunning 4445 m Phillip Island Circuit onboard push bikes.
