New track adds to list of SBK venues

After the recent visit of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship to Russia, to the brand new facility of Moscow Raceway, the championship added another great venue and another important territory in a year when the series is enjoying its 25th year of vibrant life. The first visit of a major two-wheel road race championship to the vast country that is Russia provided exciting racing, an enthusiastic raceday crowd and the promise of more to come in the future.

Moscow Raceway became the 45th circuit that the championship has visited along the way in those 25 years. With the final three tracks of the 2012 season - Nürburgring, Portimao and Magny-Cours - all firm favourites already, this figure will remain static until the series visits the Buddh International Circuit in India next spring.

In terms of countries that have hosted races the number is now - technically - 26. That total, however, has to be tempered by the fact that not all countries have a suitable circuit of their own to race on (Andorra, San Marino, Ireland) and of course some races have been called European rounds when there have been two or more races in one country in one year. The 26-strong list of those countries to have held races, given that special criterion is the following: Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium. Canada, Czech Republic, Europe, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, San Marino, South Africa, Spain, Sweden and the USA.
