World Champion shows his speed in second free session

Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) made a late push to be fastest in the second qualifying session, setting a lap time almost at the track best. Jonathan Rea (Honda World Superbike Team) made great strides in this session and was fastest until near the end, when he and his team-mate Hiroshi Aoyama almost collided and Rea has to run wide, crashing at the end of turn one. He was ranked second, one place up in this session on Davide Giugliano (Althea Racing Ducati).

Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) was in the top four, and Tom Sykes took his Kawasaki Racing Team machine to fifth place. The charging Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) was sixth, and one spot ahead of his team-mate Marco Melandri in the last session before the Tissot-Superpole sessions for the top 16 riders start later this afternoon.
