Sykes leaves combined qualifying as fastest rider on show

Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) pushed his way to the top of the combined qualifying sheets for the eni FIM Superbike World Championship at Brno after the second qualifying session, setting a 1 minute 59.443 second lap to head towards the Tissot-Superpole competition with the psychological advantage over his peers.

The next three riders failed to improve their best lap times from Friday. Davide Giugliano (Althea Racing Ducati), Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) and Eugene Laverty (Aprilia Racing) completed the top four, while Melandri was lucky to walk away largely unscathed from a high speed fall in the second qualifying period. Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) completed the pre Superpole top five.
