Giugliano from Smrz in first Brno session
Davide Giugliano (Althea Racing Ducati) set the early fastest time in the first free session at a dry but overcast Brno to head off the challenge of another Ducati rider, local hero Jakub Smrz (Liberty Racing-Team Effenbert).
The Aprilia Racing Team duo of Eugene Laverty and Max Biaggi filled the top four places, with perennial fast man in practice, Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) fifth. The top BMW rider so far is Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) in sixth place, one up on reigning World Champion Carlos Checa (Althea Racing).
