Sylvain Guintoli and Liberty Racing split on eve of Brno round

Frenchman Sylvain Guintoli and the Liberty Racing Team have gone their separate ways on the day before the ninth round of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship at Brno. In a press release the Czech Republic based team has clarified the reasons behind this separation, which was due to a ‘misunderstanding' between the mechanics and the team management.

According to the Liberty Racing Team infact several mechanics decided not to take part in the Czech Round of the series and in the rest of the championship. "This defection", continues the note, "sadly involves the French rider Sylvain Guintoli who, without technical support, will not take part in the race that is held in Brno this weekend."

Guintoli, who scored the team's first-ever race win in World Superbike in April at the Assen TT Van Drenthe, will therefore miss this weekend's race at the Automotodrom, but he hopes to return to the track in some way in a couple of weeks' time at Silverstone.
