Moscow Raceway gears up for World Superbike arrival
Moscow Raceway is all set to host the arrival of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship in August. Last weekend saw the inaugural event at the circuit, located approximately 80 kilometres north-west of the Russian capital, a World Series race for single-seaters which met with considerable success.

The track, designed by Hermann Tilke, measures 3.931 km in its bike layout, and looks to be have a technical and spectacular layout. The first part has a series of flowing curves, while the second half is much quicker and contains a straight of almost 800 metres leading onto the final curve before the start/finish line.

The Moscow Raceway is an ideal location for the first International motorcycle race to be held in Russia. Surrounded by forests, the circuit can accommodate up to 100,000 spectators, including 60,000 in grandstands which at the inaugural event were completely sold out. The passion for motorsport in Russia is evident and it is expected that the World Superbike event will have similar success.

In order to help spectators to arrive the organizers have laid on a number of extra trains from the capital that will take them to the nearest railway station and they can then take shuttle buses to the circuit.

World Superbike action in Russia will begin on Wednesday 22 August with an extra test day to allow the teams and riders to get to know the track. Thursday will as usual be dedicated to media, with first qualifying getting underway on Friday 24 August.
