Stunning four-way fight goes to Melandri

Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) secured his third win of the season after a spectacularly tight fight against three other riders. Second in the race was Eugene Laverty (Aprilia Racing) who lost out by only 0.042 seconds. Immediately behind Chaz Davies (ParkinGO MTC Racing Aprilia) held off the attention of Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) to take his first ever podium in the eni FIM Superbike World Championship.
The top four riders were only 0.484 seconds apart after a thrilling 20-lap race at the beautifully designed Motorland Aragon circuit. Behind the leading quartet Jonathan Rea (Honda World Superbike Team) went fifth after recovering from another bad start, with Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad Motorsport), Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) and Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) in basically the same group for most of the race.
In the championship points, Biaggi has 248.5, Melandri has 200.5, Rea has 183, Checa has 175.5 and Sykes is fifth with 172.5.
