Chaz Davies makes more headway at Misano

Following on from what was almost a podium finish at Miller Motorsports Park (fourth in race 2), Chaz Davies was once again in the thick of the action at Misano's eni FIM Superbike World Championship round on Sunday. The Welshman, reigning Supersport champion, had a superb run through the field in race 1 on his ParkinGO MTC Racing Aprilia RSV4 machine, making up for the problems he had encountered during the previous two days of practice and qualifying.

After qualifying 21st on the grid, and therefore unable to make the Tissot-Superpole, Davies showed excellent pace in race 1 to finish sixth, finding himself caught up in a battle with riders of the calibre of Jonathan Rea and Eugene Laverty, who finished fifth and seventh respectively.

"It has been fun!" said Davies. "The bike was very consistent, not great but fun to ride and manage. Last night the team changed a few things on the front allowing me to ride it better and finally breaking the wall of the 36's after going through the wall of the 38 and 37.4 during this weekend."

In race 2, after starting with more confidence, Chaz took the same strategy, getting to 10th position in only a few laps. Unfortunately his comeback was interrupted nine laps before the end of the race after losing the front at the Curvone when he was closing up the gap with the Kawasaki riders. The condition of the bike after his crash didn't allow Davies to get back into the race, but in any case the man from Knighton again appeared on the front-running radar over the weekend.
