Jakub Smrz (Ducati Effenbert Liberty Racing) was quickest in second qualifying at Assen, held in the rain. Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad) and Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) also looked good in the wet conditions, notching up second and third quickest time. Sykes dominated the last SBK race held in these conditions at the Nurburgring in 2011.

After only going 17th quickest in Q1, Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) was caught out by the rain and was unable to make it into the Tissot-Superpole session for the top 16 qualifiers this afternoon. As a result the Italian will start from the fifth row in both races tomorrow.

Niccolò Canepa was one to watch this morning on his Ducati, the Red Devils Roma man claiming fourth quickest time.
