Pirelli Notes from Magny-Cours
"I would like to first congratulate the 2011 Superbike World Champion Carlos Checa, who this year has demonstrated great performance and consistency, as well as Davide Giugliano who at Magny-Cours earned his first title in Superstock 1000, and also to the Althea Racing team who supported these two champions. My compliments also go to Chaz Davies, another first time World Champion in the Supersport class on his ParkinGo Yamaha. Throughout the weekend the French circuit enjoyed favorable weather conditions, in the past it had regularly been ruined by days of rain and cold. The track temperature fluctuated between 32° and 42°C from Race 1 to Race 2. For Magny-Cours, as always, Pirelli made available several solutions for riders to choose from, making up a total of 4658 tyres. The Supersport class saw 3 solutions for the front and 3 for the rear, while in SBK we prepared a total of 4 front solutions and 4 rear. In Supersport nearly all riders opted for the new Supersoft (SC0) rear matched with the new soft (SC1) front which uses Pirelli's PTSM process. Virtually all the Superbike riders preferred the new C solution (new SC1 development) that exploits the aforementioned PTSM compounding, and on the rear a similar C solution which should become the new SC2 production for 2012. It was truly a weekend full of emotions!"
