Kawasaki's Lascorz and Sykes in top 5 again
A home race for Joan Lascorz was also a round at Tom Sykes' designated test circuit of Aragon and the Spanish race weekend delivered some strong scores for each rider. Lascorz had his best combined results to date in his rookie WBSK season, finishing seventh and fifth, and equalling his best single result of the season with his top five.

Sykes, following up his fourth place in race one at Misano with a fifth in race one in Spain, had an unlucky second race, falling from contention. Nonetheless the English rider was impressive and competitive throughout practice, qualifying and Tissot-Superpole, having clearly made another step forward in terms of overall machine set-up.

It was even a good day for lowly qualifier Chris Vermeulen (Kawasaki Racing Team) who recovered from his fifth row starting positions to score points in each race, and 12th in race one.

Lascorz, handling the pressure of riding at home with his usual laid back approach, said "I was fifth in race two and the same position I took at Donington," said the former WSS star. "That was very good, but I was much closer to the top positions here. We had some laps of testing but not many so this was really a new circuit for me in qualifying, so we did a good job. I like it but it is not easy. We were only five seconds from the podium in race two, and not only me, Tom was also very fast this weekend."

For Sykes, he had a virtual mirror image race day compared to Misano one weekend before, with one strong finish and one fall. Said Sykes, still the top ranked Kawasaki rider in the overall rankings, "Again there are some positives and negatives but I am going to ignore the latter. The positive side is that we have been top five all weekend, and in race one, and in race two I went down but we were still racing in a good position. We came away with good levels of performance during a dry weekend, which is another big positive."
