Checa-Biaggi duel begins in FP1
Just 11/1000ths of a second split Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) and Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia) at the end of FP1 at Misano.

The Spaniard led throughout the entire session but the 2010 world champion narrowed down the gap right at the end in what could be the a prelude to an intense battle on Sunday.

Behind Checa and Biaggi were placed the two factory BMW riders, Leon Haslam and Troy Corser, who made good use of their recent testing time at the Adriatic Riviera track. And still with BMW, sixth-placed Ayrton Badovini continued his impressive form over the last few races on the BMW Italia machine.

In seventh was Michel Fabrizio (Alstare Suzuki), another rider to watch at Misano, while Marco Melandri (Yamaha World Superbike Team) is for the moment down in tenth.
