Determined Biaggi hopes to shine at home
The second Italian-based race of the year - the San Marino round at Misano - will be another opportunity for Max Biaggi to score his first win since 2010. Having to give best to championship leader and now six time race winner Carlos Checa this season has not been easy for the reigning champion, and his task at Misano will be somewhat complicated by the after effects of a fall in race one at Miller motorsports Park last time out. But however battered and bruised Max is, he knows that he was the double winner at Misano last year, making him one of the pre-race favourites for sure.

Max's main issue will be sore ribs but he is still bullish that the right results could come along, especially at a circuit where he can count on support from his countrymen.

"Unfortunately I came away from Miller with one more race gone and quite a few blows. After the crash (in race one) Rea's bike hit me rather hard. I was able to finish race two but at the end of the day I was really exhausted. Despite all that I want to do well at Misano. It's a track that I like and where we have ridden well, since it is our 2011 test track. It won't be easy to repeat the double win from last year, but a positive result would be truly important for our championship. The support from a lot of Italian supporters will undoubtedly help me forget my aches and pains."

Biaggi is currently in third place, 62 points behind Checa and one point behind his fellow Italian, Marco Melandri.
